Our Honors Emerging Leaders Program is a selective program designed to empower incoming first-year NIU Honors students to become confident, capable leaders, on campus and beyond.

• Develop leadership skills through valuable programming.

• Build a strong foundation through the required Honors orientation course.
• Receive a $2,000 scholarship and additional resources to support your success.

Who is eligible?

All first-year students who apply and are admitted to the University Honors Program are automatically considered. No separate application is required. Students with exceptional academic achievement, leadership experience and community involvement will be invited to interview.

Selection Process

• Invitations to interview are extended based on the strength of your Honors application.
• Offers to join the cohort will be made on a rolling basis until all spots are filled.
• Only 15–20 students will be selected. Apply early to maximize your chances.
• Priority deadline is Dec. 1.
