Appreciation of the Arts

Offered in collaboration with the College of Visual and Performing Arts, this experience specifically for Honors students, is comprised of attending productions put on by the School of Theatre and Dance. You will attend a pre-show pizza party where you'll have the opportunity to hear and learn from individuals involved in the production. You will then attend the shows and complete reflections on what you learned.

Job Shadow Program

By pairing NIU alumni with honors students, this program gives students the opportunity to see what a day in the life of the alum's career is like, in person or virtually. You must apply to participate. Please note that a match might not be available for every applicant.

Academic Writing Workshop Series

Four workshops provided by the NIU Writing Center Staff designed to improve your academic writing skills. Learn about the importance of academic writing, how to avoid plagiarism, use language effectively and efficiently and develop strategies for revising and editing your written work. This workshop series will help you prepare for future writing projects including the honors capstone.

Testimonial

I enjoy the challenges the program provides me. It has challenged me to keep a high GPA, work more in class and partake in Honors Engaged experiences, which can include job shadowing, internships, events on campus and so much more.
