Temporary parking passes are available to community school students. The cost is $25 for fall or spring, or $50 for both semesters.
NIU students, faculty and staff may not purchase the temporary pass.
Your pass may be used in any blue or yellow campus parking lot.
Your pass may only be used on one car and is not transferable.
There are no refunds for parking passes in summer. There are no refunds after the second installment date in fall and the fourth installment date in spring.
If you would like to purchase a temporary parking pass, complete the relevant information on your registration form. Your pass will be mailed to you. Please allow up to 10 days for processing.
Please note: A parking pass is not needed after 5 p.m. on weekdays. If you schedule lessons on weekends or after 5 p.m. on weekdays, you won't need a pass.
Metered parking is available on Gilbert Drive for one hour for a cost of $1. There is on-street parking close to the Music Building near Annie's Woods and on roads immediately to the east of the building. You don't need a parking pass for on-street parking.
There are also paid parking spaces near Anderson Hall (across Lucinda Ave., opposite the Music Building). You can park there for up to four hours at $1 per hour. After you park, enter the number of your parking space and pay at the machine located at the entrance to Anderson Hall. The machine accepts Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, bills and coins. Keep your receipt in case a parking ticket is issued in error.
Free parking for community school concerts and special events scheduled before 5 p.m. on weekdays is available for those without a parking permit in the lot south of the Music Building. This is lot three on the campus parking map (PDF). A "Music Event" sign will be posted at the parking lot entrance.
