About the Community School of the Arts

CSA COVID-19 Update Fall 2020 – Spring 2021

We will be offering a variety of programs in person and online for the 2020-2021 school year. All in-person events will strictly adhere to the safety measures outlined by the University and the NIU School of Music. All participants must comply with these safety guidelines for CSA Events until further notice.

Due to the ever-changing nature of the COIVD-19 events, we have updated our refund policy. Please be sure to familiarize yourself with the changes and contact us with questions prior to registration.

As a member of the National Guild for Community Arts Education, we are committed to making high-quality arts education accessible to all. We offer a rich variety of private and group instruction in music, theatre and visual arts. We are an outreach program of the NIU College of Visual and Performing Arts. Our teachers and advisors include talented faculty members and students from the college, as well as community artists.

Mission Statement

We are dedicated to promoting the artistic growth of everyone in our community. We encourage lifelong involvement in the arts. To this end, we provide a place for students to experience the arts together, regardless of their skill level or ability to pay.

Donations Needed in Response to Coronavirus (COVID-19)

The COVID-19 outbreak has had a huge impact on the lives of everyone in our community and has drastically impacted the Community School of the Arts.

The CSA is welcoming donations to support our programs and teachers. We are committed to paying our teachers and ensemble directors in full for the spring semester despite any and all cancelations. Your generosity supports our mission and our teachers during this challenging time.
