Physical Health

We encourage you to improve your health. By exercising 30 minutes a day, you can improve your physical health, as well as your mental health. You can also keep yourself healthy by maintaining your ideal weight and getting your annual flu shot.

On-campus Fitness Programs

We sponsor the Fitness Challenge Program, a free program that allows you to work out and network with fellow employees in a small group setting. Classes are held in the Holmes Student Center during the lunch hour and are open to all employees. You must register to join the program. No classes are scheduled at this time. Please note: Your supervisor must give permission for you to attend classes during your regular work hours. Their decision will take into account the department's operational needs.

Recreation and Wellness also offer many fitness opportunities, including group fitness classes, personal and small group training, and access to exercise equipment and facilities. As an employee, you're entitled to a faculty/staff membership rate.

Off-campus Fitness Programs

Some fitness companies offer discounted corporate membership rates to NIU employees and their families. Payroll deductions may also be available at some companies, and some companies may give additional discounts. Please contact the company for more information.
