Annual Flu Shot Clinic

The DeKalb County Health Department, NIU Employee Assistance Program and NIU School of Nursing will host two flu shot clinics this fall.

The clinics will be held in Holmes Student Center, Duke Ellington Ballroom on Wednesday, Sept. 22 and Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2021. 

To ensure safety, entrance will be at the east side door of the Ballroom with the exit through the west door. Face masks are required.

Preparing for the Clinic

Please schedule an appointment times at the clinic online and pre-fill out the client form to bring with you the day of the clinic.

What Should You Bring

Students, dependents of covered state employee and retirees will need to bring a copy of their health insurance card to give to the DeKalb County Health Department. Medicare eligible should bring a copy of both cards. 

People covered under the State of Illlinois insurance do not need to bring their card or a copy.

About the Flu Vaccine

Vaccine will not be given to individuals allergic to eggs, or who report a history of previous adverse reactions to the influenza vaccine.

If you were unable to attend the campus clinics, the flu shot may be obtained at the DeKalb County Health Department, 2550 N Annie Glidden Road, DeKalb, IL. Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 11:30am and 1:00pm to 4:00pm.

For more information, call 815-748-2467. The above restrictions also apply if you receive your vaccine at the DeKalb County Health Department. State NIU ID and insurance cards will be required. Flu vaccine must be administered prior to December 31, 2021 in order to be paid by the State of Illinois.
