Student Learning Outcomes

  1. Students will understand their rights and responsibilities as citizens in a democratic society.
  2. Students will understand alternative perspectives of political values, institutions and American society and among nations of the world.
  3. Students will be able to articulate the reasons for and defend their political positions.
  4. Students will be able to understand and evaluate objections to their political positions.
  5. Students think critically and analyze political events, the efficacy of governmental institutions and processes, and contemporary public policy problems.
  6. Students will be demonstrating high levels of professional development and be prepared for successful careers in public, private, and non-profit service. Students will demonstrate high levels of professional conduct. Students will acquire skills and abilities necessary for obtaining professional employment and career success.
