Sarah Triolo (she/her/hers)

I am a queer-identifying staff psychologist here at CCS, working under supervision while I prepare for licensure. I currently work with students for individual therapy as well as oversee our Substance Use Services. My goal is to create a space where therapy feels welcoming, approachable, and down-to-earth. Students often tell me that working with me feels like having a real conversation – one that is supportive and collaborative, but also challenging in a way that will help you grow.

My therapeutic approach blends Adlerian and cognitive-behavioral perspectives, with influences from third-wave CBT therapies. What this means in practice is that we focus on both connection and concrete change: making room for humor, curiosity, and reflection on the bigger systems that shape our lives, while also exploring practical tools you can use in your day-to-day life.

I feel honored to work with NIU’s diverse student body. My work is guided by cultural humility—I may bring both academic knowledge and lived experience to our sessions, but I always see you as the expert on your own story. I strive to understand how each student’s intersecting identities shape their experiences, and I remain committed to lifelong self-reflection around my own biases, privileges, and blind spots.

Outside of work, you can usually find me playing horror video games, listening to music, watching The Office, collecting Mini Brands, or hanging with my cat, Olive.
