Scholarships

Studying economics at NIU comes with more than academic opportunities—it can also mean financial support. The Department of Economics offers several scholarships that reward strong academic performance and unique experiences, such as study abroad. With one application through MyScholarships, you can be considered for multiple awards.

  • The Skeels Scholarship in Economics: Provides approximately $1,000 to an upper-division undergraduate with a 3.0 GPA or higher, with preference for economics majors.
  • The Scaperlanda Scholarship for Study Abroad in Economics: Offers up to $3,000 to economics majors or minors participating in study abroad. Ideal for students with a 3.0 GPA and strong performance in economics courses.
  • The La Tourette Scholarship: Awards $1,000 annually to a full-time undergraduate majoring in economics. Endowed by former NIU President John La Tourette and his wife, Lili.
