Welcome to the Department of Economics

Our distinguished faculty teaches and conducts research in labor, public and financial economics, as well as econometrics. Undergraduates can take electives in areas such as government and business, public economics, international trade and finance, monetary policy, environmental economics, and more. Smaller class sizes allow you to learn directly from field experts.

At the graduate level, you can specialize in labor, public or financial economics, or econometrics. Students focusing on econometrics can also earn an M.S. in Statistics while pursuing a Ph.D. in Economics. Both our M.A. and Ph.D. programs are classified as STEM fields, offering additional benefits for international students. We collaborate across disciplines as part of the School of Public and Global Affairs and with groups like the Institute for the Study of the Environment, Sustainability and Energy.
