Policy Narrative
The following policy has been designed to ensure the availability of the Huskie Relaxiation Station located on the 4th floor in room 493 of Founders Memorial Library for its intended purpose: to provide users and staff with an environment for browsing newspapers and books.
Purpose
The Huskie Relaxiation Station exists to provide a comfortable, convenient environment for browsing newspapers and new books. Materials are not selected for the Huskie Relaxiation Station based on their content; placement in the room does not imply endorsement by Northern Illinois University or the NIU Libraries.
- Newspapers or materials in newspaper-like formats, books.
- Materials in moderately high demand.
- Materials not generally retained in their original format.
- Materials available or unavailable for circulation.
- New materials to be added to the book collection.
Transfers
Transfer of newspapers meeting the above criteria into the Huskie Relaxiation Station shall be coordinated by the Head of User Services, and when necessary, with the appropriate subject specialist. Library users may suggest newspapers for inclusion in the room by contacting the appropriate subject specialist.
