NIU is committed to educating the campus community about sexual misconduct awareness and prevention. Students and employees must complete required training. They can also benefit from optional education and training therefore, NIU requires all employees and students to complete an annual Sexual Misconduct training. Prevention Education and Outreach, a unit of Academic Diversity Equity and Inclusion, also provides tailored prevention education programs.
Further outreach is performed by several committees and task forces. These groups' duties include working to reduce sexual assault on campus, advocating for survivors and helping improve victim services.
The university also works with community partners to provide comprehensive resources to students and employees.
Faculty, staff and student organizations can request Prevention Education trainings from the Center for Student Assistance throughout the academic year.
