Why did you choose to attend NIU?
NIU has a great business school, and my parents are Huskie alumni.

What scholarships did you receive and why did you receive them? How has the financial support impacted your experience at NIU?
I received the Robert and Catherine Rothkopf Endowed Leadership Scholarship, the Ari and Ruth Kovacevich Distinguished Scholarship Award, and the Peter and Luann Walton Scholarship. This financial support helped me pursue my education without having to worry about the financial burden of student loans.

What did you want to be when you were growing up? Are you pursuing that as a major, or have you taken another path?
As I grew up, I wanted to have my own business. Studying business has provided the framework I need to understand operations and grow my skills to potentially have my own business someday.

What is your major (and/or minor) and why did you decide on this course of study?
My major is business administration, and my minor is marketing. I have always felt that I understood business, so I wanted to pursue it and grow my skills.

Have you conducted an internship?
Yes

How did you get your internship, and where was it?
I received an internship at AAR through the NIU Career Fair.

How did your internship help prepare you for your career?
This internship was a fantastic learning experience where I was exposed to corporate operations. I learned how different business units work together to grow a company.

What has been something you have found pleasantly surprising about your experience at NIU?
I have really enjoyed all the opportunities provided to students on campus, especially at the College of Business. The passport program provides all kinds of events to attend and learn about different topics. Many of my classes have also provided great learning opportunities and experiences.

How have you connected with other students to study for classes, meet new people or form new friendships?
Many group projects have allowed me to meet new people. We will meet in the Haribo Commons after class to work on projects and get to know each other. I also met many of my friends through joining a student organization.

Are you involved in any student organizations, mentoring programs or extra-curricular activities? If so, which ones? How have they added to your experience as a Huskie?
I am involved with Women in Business Professions. This club has introduced me to many new people and has provided great leadership experience.

What NIU offices, departments or resources have helped you feel safe, supported and successful? And how?
All the departments in the College of Business are super helpful. You can ask any one of them a question and they are always willing to help!

What Honors Program opportunities or support have helped you get closer to your academic or career goals so far?
I enjoyed the Honors Engaged experiences. The honors program provides many great opportunities for students to grow, professionally and personally.

What do you enjoy the most about the Honors Program?
I really enjoyed the seminar class I took and being able to have discussions in the class.

Who has been one of your favorite instructors/professors and why? What course did they teach?
Anissa Kuhar teaches UBUS 110, and I really enjoyed her class. She is very encouraging and wants her students to succeed.

How have you benefited by attending class regularly?
Attending class regularly allows me to stay updated on what's going on and ask any questions I may have.

Where is your favorite spot on campus or in the community? Why are you drawn to it?
The Haribo Commons is my favorite spot on campus because I see many of my friends here. We will sit down and catch up or study together. This is a great place to see your peers and stay connected before attending class.

What advice would you give to a student who is researching colleges to apply to?
Think about what you want in your education experience and go from there.

Why is a college education important to you?
I have always wanted to earn my degree and aspire to complete my master’s.

What strategies do you use to manage your time between the responsibilities of school, work, friends and family?
I keep a list of all the tasks I have to complete on a weekly basis.
