What Happens After My Proposal Is Submitted?

Receive an Award Notice?

Congratulations!

SPA will typically receive award notices, but occasionally a PI may be notified directly. An award can be referred to as notice, notice of grant award (NOGA), notice of grant agreement (NGA), sponsor notice, or award letter. If you receive an official notice of award, send it as soon as possible to asosp@niu.edu.

Our Award Acceptance team will review the award and contact you regarding any changes. Once all award terms have been reviewed and confirmed acceptable the award will be assigned to a Grants and Contracts Associate who will set up your grant in PeopleSoft.

Receive a Denial Notice?

If your proposal was not funded, please notify SPA at asosp@niu.edu so we may update your record.

Receive Other Contact From the Agency?

If you are contacted by the sponsor with questions regarding the proposal or budget, please discuss these changes with your Proposal Coordinator. If you need to submit a budget revision or other change to the sponsor before award, these changes will require SPA approval and many times, submission by the AOR. Proposal Coordinators determine when a pre-award budget revision or other change will require routing through InfoEd for new institutional approvals.
