Sandy Cox joined NIU as the new Ombudsperson in July of 2022.
Sandy feels honored to be serving in this role and is committed to providing ombuds services that are inclusive and enhance the quality of the experience of all Huskie students, faculty and staff. She is proud to be part of a university that values respect, inclusiveness and equity.
Prior to joining NIU, Sandy was the director of the Counseling Center and the director of EAP services at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh for eight years and the director of the Counseling Center at Eastern Illinios University for eighteen years. She earned her bachelor's in psychology and her master's in educational psychology/counseling from Eastern Illinois University. She holds a license as a professional counselor in the states of Illinois and Wisconsin.
