Instructor

Kerri-Ann Chandler is an educator, audio engineer, musician, producer and Fulbright scholar. Passionate about music creation and music technology education, she holds a post graduate certificate in higher education from the University of Greenwich and has previously taught at the University of Trinidad and Tobago, as well as the School of Business and Continuing Science. She has worked as a live audio engineer, audio technician and was the recording engineer and technical director of Wiluvbeats Studios in Trinidad and Tobago.

Chandler earned her B.A. musical arts in steelpan from the University of the West Indies (UWI), as well as a B.Sc recording arts at Full Sail University where she graduated as valedictorian and recipient of the prestigious Advanced Achievement Award. Recently, she graduated with a M.Mus in music technology at New York University (NYU) where her research interests explored immersive audio recording techniques, and the use of the steelpan in music production and sound design. During her time at NYU, she worked as an engineer in NYU’s James Dolan Recording Studio, interacting with many jazz and classical musicians.

While her primary interests rest within the scope of engineering for musical purposes, she also enjoys working on film projects. She has engaged in audio post-production for short films and documentaries produced in her home country, some of which have gone on to earn international acclaim at film festivals around the world.

As a musician, Chandler has performed and toured with the National Steel Symphony Orchestra of Trinidad and Tobago, the UWI Festival Steel Ensemble and the Exodus Steel Orchestra amongst several others. Her primary instrument is the tenor steelpan, which she grew an affinity for at the age of 12. She considers her background in music as the springboard for her interests in music technology, and always employs her skillset as a musician as the foundation for any audio engineering task at hand.
