When logged in to the RRD storefront, you will be able to review your order history. As part of that process, you will see the current status of your order.

To order, visit the RRD storefront and log in with your NIU username and password. Visit the “Catalogs” section to order business cards, stationery, postcards and other standard items. Use the “On-Request Form” to order items that aren’t in the Catalogs section.
You’ll see the cost after you choose your product and options. If you’re requesting a custom item, RRD will provide you with a quote before printing. You can provide a department cost center during checkout.
RRD’s usual turnaround time is five to 10 business days. If you request a new template, it will take 10 to 15 business days before the template is available to order. If you request a new static item, it will take one to two business days before the item is available to order.
Additional time is required for Materials Management to deliver your materials after they arrive on campus. Or, choose customer pickup as your delivery method to pick up your order at the Dorland Building.
RRD can print and mail your project. You can upload a mailing list on the RRD storefront. NIU will pre-fund postage. After the mailing is complete, the postage used for your order will be added to a monthly summary report. Charge-back to your department via a journal entry will happen once a month.
Upon request, RRD will provide a report indicating any undeliverable addresses caught before production. Returned mail will come to NIU’s Campus Mail.
During checkout, you can request for your materials to be stored at RRD. The charge for a pallet of materials is $11.22 per month. Smaller materials have a bin charge of $4.81 per month. The standard storage time is six months, after which the monthly fee increases.
RRD will store your materials for up to 12 months. You can request the return of your materials at any time. You’ll be charged for shipping to NIU. Alternatively, you can request disposal of the materials for $10.18 per container at the end of 12 months.
When logged in to the RRD storefront, you will be able to review your order history. As part of that process, you will see the current status of your order.
By default, RRD provides a digital proof (PDF) for you to review and approve during the ordering process. They can produce a hard copy proof if that is something you require. You can check with RRD regarding the cost, additional production time and delivery options for hard copy proofs.
Ideally, you should send your final draft proof — which has been edited and approved by all your project’s stakeholders — to the Clearinghouse for review and approval before sending your files to RRD for your quote and print job. However, you may also complete a Clearinghouse form and submit the PDF you received prior to submitting your order to RRD.
You can view your order history in the RRD storefront. Simply select a previous order and request a reorder.
The RRD storefront products are set up with paper choices similar to those you have become accustomed to on the NIU storefront. You may also contact RRD to request recommendations for paper, finishing and other production considerations.
RRD offers die cutting and foil stamping solutions.
No. If you have documents that you printed on an AnywherePrinter or paper you have purchased, RRD will not be able to cut them for you. If you need documents cut, you should use RRD to print and cut your project.
No. RRD does not finish or bind preprinted documents. If you have projects that require folding, stapling, etc., you should use RRD to print and finish your project.
The RRD automated system sends a proof to the Clearinghouse as a courtesy. The Clearinghouse notifies our NIU liaison in the event the proof contains an error, who then contacts RRD to cancel the order. RRD in turn should contact you indicating the problem with your job and the correction(s) necessary to reorder and get your job back on track.
No. RRD does not provide multiuse electronic letterhead. Please contact the Clearinghouse with electronic letterhead requests.
There are many factors in the equation of higher print prices. Supply chain difficulties, staffing and lower personnel issues and the rising cost of raw materials are just a few reasons. It is always a good idea to seek out at least three competitive estimates to select a printer. While RRD is an NIU provider, you are always free to seek out alternative printers and pricing for your projects.
That depends on the nature of the project. In general, you should use RRD to print and mail your project. If you have special circumstances, you should contact RRD and/or Campus Mailing Services for advice.
Marketing Mail will be processed by RRD on behalf of NIU. You can request that your print order be mailed by RRD at the time you place your order.
Note: The NIU print shop relinquished its Marketing Mail permit No. 120 Jan. 15, 2022. Any printed materials containing a NIU Standard Mail indicia (Permit No. 120) will no longer be accepted at the USPS.
NIU’s Campus Mail Services will continue to support and process First Class Mail on behalf of NIU. For specifics regarding your First Class Mail projects, you may contact Campus Mail Services.
The RRD primary contact number and email is the best place to start. You will be directed to the proper department or facility that can answer your question. You can also find information on acceptable mail design in USPS Publication 25 Designing Letter and Reply Mail. We encourage you to work with the graphic design team in Creative Services to design your mail pieces.
