Review of Degree Requirements

When you apply to graduate, your record is reviewed to make sure you meet the requirements for you degree. If you apply for graduation, you'll be invited to commencement. This assumes that you'll meet all the requirements, and doesn't guarantee that you'll qualify to graduate.

Undergraduate Students

When you apply to graduate, Registration and Records reviews your record to see if you've met your degree requirements. Your academic adviser also reviews your record. This review will reveal any issues that would prevent you from graduating. If you don't qualify for graduation, you'll be notified by Registration and Records.

You can also run a Academic Requirements Report in MyNIU and contact your adviser if you have any deficiencies.

If you can't resolve any issues quickly, you may not be eligible to graduate until the end of a future semester. You must stay in touch with your adviser to resolve any issues.

Graduate Students

When you apply to graduate, your record is reviewed to see if you've met your degree requirements. This review will reveal any issues that would prevent you from graduating. The Graduate School will inform you in writing if there are any issues with your record.

You can also run a Academic Requirements Report in MyNIU and contact your academic adviser if you have any deficiencies. If the report isn't available, contact your adviser to see if you have any issues that need to be resolved.

If you can't resolve any issues quickly, you may not be eligible to graduate until the end of a future semester.
