Graduation vs. Commencement
Graduation and commencement mean different things. Graduation means that you completed the requirements for your degree, and your diploma will be mailed to you. Commencement is the event that celebrates you finishing your degree. If you fill out an application to graduate by the published deadline, you'll be invited to commencement.
