Professor
Ph.D., Instituto de Matematica Pura e Aplicada (IMPA) — Numerical Analysis and Optimization
Bello Cruz designs and analyzes algorithms for structured optimization, with expertise in convex analysis, projection methods, proximal gradient methods, variational inequalities and large-scale numerical linear algebra. His work spans smooth and nonsmooth optimization, producing algorithms that are both mathematically rigorous and computationally effective. Bello Cruz is currently supported by an NSF grant, serves on four international editorial boards, maintains active collaborations across Brazil, Chile and Spain, and has published in the Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications and Computational Optimization and Applications.
