What is the Civic Leadership Academy?

Since 2004, the Civic Leadership Academy (CLA) has helped to develop the leadership skills of government and nonprofit professionals through practical workshops that address your needs. CLA is a program of the Northern Illinois University Center for Governmental Studies (CGS).

At CLA, you'll:

In today's trying and uncertain context, civic leaders are at the forefront of solving problems with creative, grounded and flexible solutions.

We offer training sessions throughout the year from October to June. Attendees can earn certificates of achievement and continuing professional education credits. We also provide custom workshops for organizations and municipalities.
