Drumline and Colorguard Rehearsal and DCI Show

We'll have one rehearsal this summer, on Sunday, July 14. The previous evening, Saturday, July 13, we'll have the opportunity to attend the Midwest Classic DCI show, one of the largest shows in Illinois.

Rehearsal Details

Rehearsal will take place from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on July 14. Please plan to arrive around 8:30 a.m. to meet your section leader.

Drumline will rehearse in room 155 of the Music Building. Colorguard will rehearse at the Campus Recreation Center.

NIU Instruments and Music

If you'll be using a snare, tenor or bass drum, please plan to check out the instrument after rehearsal. There is a $50 rental fee for any NIU instrument. Please make checks or money orders payable to NIU. Cash is reluctantly accepted. Credit cards are not accepted. Or, make an appointment to check out an instrument after July 1 by contacting band@niu.edu.

Drumline members: Be sure to carefully prepare all of the music for rehearsal. If in doubt, check with your section leader or your tech.

DCI Show

The DCI show begins at 7 p.m. on July 13 and ends at approximately 10 p.m. If you plan to attend, please make plans to travel safely to and from your home.

The dress code for the day will be our summer uniform, which consists of black shorts and a black t-shirt that we will provide. We are providing Jimmy Johns for dinner at 4 p.m. on the West side of the Music Building at the Grassy Knoll. Please join us there to pick up your black marching band t-shirt and your ticket to the show.

Tickets

The band will buy your ticket for the show, but only if you confirm your attendance by July 8. Please confirm your attendance with either Abby Shields (drumline) or Lori Valenzuela (guard). We are only able to provide tickets for members of the 2024 marching band. Family, friends and alumni will need to purchase a ticket for the show at the stadium box office.
