Ready for Fall 2020!

We’re working to create a Fall 2020 experience that will foster your ability to make friends, build connections with faculty, do well in your courses and allow you to prioritize your health and well-being. We’re here to answer your questions and address your concerns. Start by exploring this information:

New Student Orientation

Orientation sets you up for success and welcomes you to the pack as a new student. Review the timeline below, and get ready to declare yourself an official Huskie!

  • 1

    Step 1

You’re required to register for online orientation at MyNIU. Once registered, you’ll have access to video and chat sessions, as well as live virtual presentations. Explore!

  • 2

    Step 2

Please plan to complete our Pre-Orientation Program (POP) at least two weeks before orientation. What’s POP? It's an online, self-guided module introducing many of the topics you’ll learn about during your orientation.

  • 3

    Step 3

Within seven days leading up to your registered orientation date, keep an eye out for an email with information about your advising appointment time. During your scheduled advising appointment, you’ll meet virtually one-on-one with your advisor, who will help you plan your first semester and prepare to register for classes.

  • 4

    Step 4

Enjoy your virtual orientation experience! You’ll hear about everything NIU has to offer and participate in a live Huskie to Huskie chat with NIU’s student Orientation Leaders and other new Huskies like you. Expect an invitation in your student email to join this Microsoft Teams chat within the three days leading up to your registered date.
