Purpose of Student OneCard ID
Student mobile or physical OneCards are issued by the institution to provide students with a means of identification, access to campus facilities such as housing, and services including, but not limited to dining, library use, and event attendance. The OneCard ID is an important tool for ensuring campus security and facilitating the management of student services.
Responsibilities of Students
By accepting the OneCard, you agree to the following responsibilities:
- Personal Use: The OneCard is issued to the student for their personal use only. It should not be transferred, screenshotted, copied, or loaned for use by anyone other than the OneCard owner. Failure to abide by the OneCard policy may result in action through the Office of Student Conduct.
- Security: Students must take appropriate precautions to safeguard their OneCard. This includes not sharing their OneCard number, account or personal identification information with anyone.
- Reporting Loss or Theft: If your OneCard is lost, stolen, or damaged, you must take action to deactivate the card online or report it to the institution immediately to have a replacement card reissued.
Acceptable Use of OneCard
- Access Control: The student OneCard is used to access certain areas on campus (e.g., libraries, dorms, and labs). Students should only use their OneCard to access areas they are authorized to use. If a student is no longer enrolled, their access will be restricted, and their mobile OneCard may be deactivated.
- Meal Plans & Account Use: The student OneCard may be linked to meal plans or other campus related services. Students must use the OneCard for its intended purpose and within the guidelines and policies set by the institution.
- Event Attendance: The student OneCard may be used to gain access to campus events (e.g., student activities, sports events, and any other campus related programming that requires identification for access). The OneCard may only be used by the student to whom it is issued.
- Digital Services: Some student OneCards may be used for online services or access for logging into university systems. OneCard must only be used in accordance with university policies. Any other use not authorized by the institution is prohibited.
Prohibited Activities
- Card Misuse: Using the mobile or physical OneCard for any unauthorized purpose is strictly prohibited. This includes but is not limited to using someone else’s OneCard, attempting to use the card for fraudulent activities, duplication of a OneCard or the information associated with the identification, and accessing restricted areas without authorization.
- Tampering or Hacking: Students are prohibited from tampering with, altering, or modifying a student OneCard in any way, including but not limited to attempting to duplicate the OneCard, change any information encoded on the OneCard, or modify or hack the OneCard or its system.
- Unauthorized Sharing: Sharing login credentials or allowing someone else to use your digital or physical OneCard to access or enter any and all campus property that requires identification, attend campus affiliated events or programming, or access to restricted areas or services strictly prohibited and would violate the OneCard policy.
- Misuse of Access: Using your mobile or physical OneCard to enter campus property that requires identification for access and entrance, restricted areas without authorization, or for purposes not intended by the institution is strictly prohibited and would violate the OneCard policy.
- Impersonation: Using someone else’s mobile or physical OneCard to gain access to campus facilities and or services is strictly prohibited and would violate the OneCard policy.
Responsibility for Security
Students are responsible for maintaining the security of their OneCard and credentials. If a student loses their phone or believes their credentials have been compromised, they must take reasonable steps to deactivate the card, and report it immediately to the relevant authority, such as campus security or the IT department.
Ethical Considerations
Students must act ethically when using mobile and physical OneCard, ensuring they respect others' privacy, intellectual property, and the security of the campus system.
Consequences for Violations
Violators of the OneCard policy will be reported to the Office of Student Conduct and may face disciplinary action. Additionally, students who violate the OneCard policy may be reported to the campus police for further action if applicable.
