SharePoint Folder Request Form

If you’d like your document to open in a browser window instead of automatically downloading to a user’s device, consider hosting the file in a SharePoint site. Web and Internal Communications maintains a SharePoint site to host files linked from NIU websites. Your department’s web contact should follow these steps to request a folder:

  1. Ensure your document is accessible.
  2. Ask your department’s web contact to request a folder within the Web and Internal Communications SharePoint site.
  3. Upload the document to your department’s SharePoint folder.
  4. Create an “Anyone” link to the document to add to your department’s website.

The “Anyone” link will allow users to view the file in a separate web browser window or download it without entering an NIU account ID. Users won’t have the option to edit the file in their web browser.
