B.F.A. Dance Apply and Audition

Your first steps towards joining us to study dance at NIU are to both apply to the university and to audition for the B.F.A. dance program and be accepted.   

Audition Dates  

• October 10, 2026: Lyons Township High School
• October 16, 2026: Chicago High School for the Arts, Chicago, IL
• October 17, 2026: Westin Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL
• November 6, 2026: Hyatt Regency, Schaumburg, IL
• November 21, 2026: Campus Audition, Gabel Hall/Stevens Building, NIU, DeKalb, IL
• February 15, 2027: Campus Audition, Gabel Hall/Stevens Building, DeKalb, IL
• April 24, 2027: Campus Audition, Gabel Hall/Stevens Building, DeKalb, IL 

Virtual Auditions 

• Our preference is to meet dancers in person, but we understand not everyone can attend an in-person scholarship audition, and you can also submit a virtual audition. Our NIU dance scholarship requirement video outlines the requirements for your submission.  
• Deadline for Virtual Auditions is February 15, 2027.
