Advanced Placement Schedule

The Advanced Placement Program (AP) is a series of national examinations that measures your knowledge and skills acquired by taking AP courses in high school. With sufficiently high scores on certain AP examinations, you may be eligible for specific NIU course credit. Check the Advanced Placement schedules below to determine how we award credit for your exam.

Students with credit in ENGL 204 or enrolled in 204 cannot receive credit in ENGL 103 or 203. However, students with an AP English exam score of 3 who are eligible to take ENGL 204 based on the English Core Competency Exam may substitute three hours of English Elective Credit for credit in ENGL 103. Students wishing to make this substitution must submit a written request to Testing Services within 30 days of being notified of their eligibility for credit.
