Support and Resources

NIU Account ID and Password

Your NIU account ID, or Z-ID, is created when you apply for admission. You must activate your ID and set a password to log in

Microsoft Office 365

Online students have access to Word, Excel and other programs through Microsoft O365. Log in with your NIU account ID and password.

MyNIU Student System

You’ll use the MyNIU student system to register for classes, review your financial aid, access your tasks/to-do list and more.

Blackboard

Blackboard is NIU’s course management system. It’s where you can check your grades, submit assignments and more. You need internet access, an up-to-date browser and one of the following operating systems to use Blackboard:

  • Windows 10 or 8
  • Macintosh OS 10.8.4 or higher
