Learn more about the University Honors Program requirements and how you can achieve your academic goals.


Six Classes

Six total points of honors coursework (at least three credits per class):

  • At least three classes outside major.
  • At least one University Honors Seminar.
  • One Honors Capstone independent study project.

Tip: You can double up! One class can cover multiple requirements.


Four Honors Engaged Experiences

Achieve Full University Honors status by earning four total points of Honors Engaged experiences.


Two Electives

Two classes, two Engaged Experiences experiences or one of each.


Minimum 3.30 Grade Point Average

You must maintain a 3.30 minimum overall GPA in order to remain active and take advantage of the program benefits.

Two Honors Engaged Experiences

Achieve Associate University Honors status by earning two total points of Honors Engaged experiences.

Lower Division Honors

  • 15 credit hours of honors coursework at any level
  • GPA:
    • Overall - 3.00 minimum
    • Honors courses - 3.20 minimum

Upper Division Honors

  • 12 credit hours of 300 and 400 level honors coursework
  • Upper-division seminar (Honors Seminar)
  • Capstone project (Senior Thesis)
  • GPA:
    • Overall - 3.20 minimum
    • Honors courses - 3.20 minimum

University Honors

  • 27 credit hours of honors coursework
    • 12 credits outside the major area
    • 12 credits of upper-division courses
  • Upper-division seminar (Honors Seminar)
  • Capstone project (Senior Thesis)
  • GPA:
    • Overall - 3.20 minimum
    • Honors courses - 3.20 minimum
