Scholarly Interests
My research focuses on social inequalities and demography. I specifically examine the influence of the state upon how people interact with governmental forms. Furthermore, I am examining the influence of religion on the settlement patterns of same-gender couples.

Honors Faculty Fellow (2020-2021)
As an Honors Faculty Fellow, Professor Walther will teach a seminar on Disparities in Criminal Justice, Addictions and Health with Professor Hickey in spring 2021 in the University Honors Program. The Honors Faculty Fellowship program identifies faculty eager to teach innovative, exciting seminars of interest to highly-motivated students from across the university.
