Jeffrey L. Kidder

Scholarly Interests

My research and teaching pursuits are at the intersection of cultural sociology and urban sociology. I am particularly interested in how individuals find and maintain meaning in their everyday lives. My recent research includes a three-year ethnography of bike messengers, an analysis of emotional performances by politicians, interviews with small business owners about tax policies and a qualitative study of parkour.
