Our graduate programs in mathematics and statistics prepare students for careers in industry, government, education and doctoral study. We offer master's degree programs in mathematics, statistics and mathematics education, along with opportunities for teacher certification.
Master's programs require 30 semester hours and can typically be completed in two years of full-time study. Students must also either pass a written comprehensive examination or complete a thesis and oral defense.
Master of Science in Mathematics
Our Master of Science in mathematics program is available in four specializations:
- Applied mathematics
- Computational mathematics
- Mathematics education
- Pure mathematics
For examples of programs of study in each specialization, review our master's degree study plans.
Master of Science in Statistics
Our Master of Science in statistics program emphasizes applied statistics and probability. The program prepares students for careers as statisticians and applied probabilists, as well as advanced graduate study.
Students develop practical analytical and computational skills through coursework in statistics, probability and data analysis.
