Degree Requirements
Degree Requirements for Major in Economics
Students must complete all university-level requirements including a total of 120 credit hours, 40 hours of which are in 300- and 400-level courses. All students must maintain a minimum university and major GPA of 2.0. See the undergraduate catalog for more detailed information on university requirements.
The department of economics strongly recommends that any student planning on seeking an advanced degree in economics use option 2 for the Bachelor of Science degree and should also take Economics 490 and Economics 491. Students may also wish to consider the accelerated B.S./M.A. program offered by the department allowing them to earn their Master's of Arts in economics with just one additional year of study.

- A capstone research paper written in Economics 492 or in conjunction with a 400-level economics course with approval of the director of Undergraduate Studies. Economics majors should plan their courses in advance to ensure that all prerequisites for ECON 492 are completed by their senior year. See the program of courses.
