Illinois Preventing Sexual Violence in Higher Education Act Reports

Passed in 2015, the Illinois Preventing Sexual Violence in Higher Education Act (IPSVHEA) requires higher education institutions in Illinois to develop policies, procedures and internal reporting mechanisms to prevent and respond to sexual misconduct. The act also requires institutions to publish an annual report outlining their compliance.

In accordance with the act, the NIU Civil Rights Office creates a report each year that details the university's prevention, education and response initiatives. The report includes aggregated data on allegations of sexual misconduct and related behaviors, as well as information on support services and investigation procedures.

By promoting awareness, accountability and access to resources, we strive to create a campus culture where all members feel safe, supported and empowered.
