NIU is dedicated to creating and maintaining an environment where everyone feels welcome and safe. Guided by the university’s mission, vision and values, along with state and federal laws and regulations, we work to prevent and protect our campus community from discrimination, harassment and retaliation. As stated in the constitution of the university, we afford all members of our community fair, impartial and equal treatment regardless of protected class.

Discrimination/Harassment

Discrimination and harassment refer to negative treatment of or unwelcome conduct toward someone based on certain personal characteristics, called protected classes.

Sexual Misconduct
