About Accessibility at NIU

Accessibility is central to NIU’s mission of benefitting our students, community and the world. Ensuring that university materials, resources and services are accessible to all requires the efforts of many people and departments across campus. We’re guided in this work by several laws and policies.

Campus Partners

Our partners provide information and support to the NIU community:

• Human Resource Services: assists employees, applicants, visitors and family members with ADA reasonable accommodations and accessibility barriers
• Disability Resource Center: provides accommodations for students
• Presidential Commission on Persons with Disabilities: educates the campus community and advises the president on disability-related issues
• Information technology accessibility officer (it-accessibility@niu.edu): provides guidance on electronic and information technology
• Inclusive technology manager (accessibility@niu.edu): assists with digital accessibility needs and questions

Digital Accessibility Steering Committee

The Digital Accessibility Steering Committee is dedicated to sharing information and improving services and processes related to accessibility at the university.
