Accommodations are modifications that allow people with disabilities to have equitable access to information, services and experiences. Examples of accommodations include:
- Extended timeframes for tasks or tests
- Schedule adjustments
- Equipment or devices
To request accommodations at NIU, the process depends on your affiliation with the university.
Student Accommodations
NIU students can request accommodations through the Disability Resource Center (DRC). The first step is to register with the DRC.
Employee Accommodations
NIU employees and those applying for jobs can request accommodations from Human Resource Services.
Visitor Accommodations
If you’re planning a visit to campus and need accommodations, you can request them through Human Resource Services, using the same process available to employees.
