Helping Huskies Thrive

The Suicide Prevention Resource Center has published that suicide is one of the leading causes of death among college and university students. According to the Jed Foundation in 2013 7.5 percent of people between the ages of 18-25 seriously considered suicide. Northern Illinois University is dedicated to helping students persist through times of doubt and thrive during their time at the institution. It is up to all those affiliated with NIU to spread awareness about suicide in order to prevent students from considering it as an option. As suicidal ideations and suicide rates are high among college aged students, Helping Huskies Thrive is aimed towards helping students at NIU find the resources they need to prosper during their time at the university.
