Using the Pantry

We don't want any Huskie to go hungry, not for a single meal. If you need help getting food for any reason, we're here for you.

We're open on Thursdays from 5-7 p.m. If you need help outside this time, contact us at or 815-753-8300.

We expect everyone who uses our services to follow NIU's health and safety guidelines and the policies in the NIU student handbook.

Can I Use the Pantry?

If you're a current NIU student without a meal plan, you can use the pantry in the fall and spring semesters.

If you're a current NIU student with a meal plan, you can use the pantry only during breaks when campus dining services are closed.

You can use the pantry in the summer if you're enrolled for the fall and won't have a meal plan.

How to Use the Pantry

  1. Bring your OneCard and reusable bags. If you don't have bags, we may be able to provide up to two.
  2. Arrive no more than 10 minutes before opening and fill out an intake survey.
  3. Receive your numbered ticket.
  4. Enter the pantry when your number is called. If you don't respond within 20 minutes, you'll lose your place in line and will need to take a new ticket.
  5. Choose your items and check out with a volunteer.
