We don't want any Huskie to go hungry, not for a single meal. If you're a currently enrolled student and need help getting food for any reason, we're here for you.
Please reserve a 10-minute shopping time with the online Huskie Food Pantry Shopping Reservation Form. We're open on Wednesday and Thursday from 4-6 p.m. You have the option of signing up for one of the two open pantry days per week. Online reservations can be made up to two days in advance of the open pantry day.
If you need help outside this time, contact us at studentassistance@niu.edu or 815-753-8300.
How to Use the Pantry
- Please bring your NIU OneCard. Use the survey QR code at the check-in desk to fill out the weekly data survey.
- Next use the check-in QR code to check in to use the pantry. Keep this on your phone to confirm you are checked in. You may be seated in the bleachers until your 10-minute shopping session is announced.
- The check-in volunteer will announce each 10-minute shopping session. Line up when your session is called and have the check-in on your phone and your NIU OneCard ready to show the registration volunteer.
- Once a semester, students are required to complete an intake survey before they shop. Dates for the semester survey will be announced. All information remains strictly confidential. The data gathered is used to support our fundraising efforts, gain a better understanding of our students’ needs, and improve the pantry operations.
- You are encouraged to use the Huskie Hub NIU Huskie Food Pantry Open Pantry Shopping to reserve a 10-minute shopping session. Please arrive 5-10 minutes before your reservation time to check-in. Reservations may be made no more than two days prior to the open pantry date.
- If you do not use the online registration, you may experience a longer waiting period.
