Overview
Need a little more help and some dedicated time to get started building your Spring 2024 courses in the Blackboard Ultra Course View? The Ultra Course Build-a-Thon is perfect for you!
Join members of CITL and representatives from Blackboard in-person to learn the basics of Ultra Course View and spend time working on building your own courses. Using a work-sprint model, we will provide short demonstrations followed by time for hands-on building with friendly, knowledgeable individuals who can sit beside you to offer guidance and answer your questions.

- Basics of Building a Course - creating a structure, adding files, creating Ultra Documents, copying materials
- Creating Assessments - building Assignments and Tests
- Gradebook & Communication - configuring your Gradebook, calculating an overall grade, sending announcements and messages
- Upcoming Features in Ultra - sneak peek at features currently in development for the Ultra Course View
Please plan to bring a laptop to work on during the session, if possible, including either an NIU-issued laptop, one you have borrowed from your department/college, or a personal laptop (should be running Windows 10, Windows 11, or Mac OS Big Sur, Monterey, Ventura, or Sonoma and have an updated version of Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, or Microsoft Edge; use Blackboard's Browser Checker to make sure your browser is supported).
We will have a few devices available for those who need to borrow one from us for the event, but availability will be limited.

Registration Information
The Build-a-thon is open to anyone who is teaching at NIU during the Spring 2024 semester, including faculty, instructors, SPS and Civil Service staff, and graduate teaching assistants. Please register by the deadline so that we can ensure we have sufficient space available.
Registration Deadline: Wednesday, November 29, 2023.
