Bachelor of Science in Applied Management: Public Safety

The Bachelor of Science in Applied Management with an emphasis in Public Safety gives police officers, fire officers and first responders the skills and knowledge needed for public sector leadership in a rapidly changing world. 

Designed for professionals with AAS degrees in criminal justice, law enforcement, fire science and emergency management, this degree builds on foundational knowledge and takes it to the next level, providing new pathways for career advancement and further education.

Courses focus on the following areas:

  • Management and leadership theory
  • Public sector budgeting
  • Operations management
  • Human behavior in groups and communities
  • Local government and politics
  • Homeland security and disaster preparedness
  • Cross-service internship
  • Effective communication and public relations

Open to individuals with an AAS from any community college! NIU will need to approve your area of emphasis.
