Membership of Student Conduct Advisory Board

  1. Establishment of the Student Conduct Advisory Board

    1.  The Student Conduct Advisory Board shall be established to advise Student Conduct.

    2.  The membership of the Student Conduct Advisory Board shall include the following:

    1. The Director, Associate Director, and Assistant Director of Student Conduct;
    2. Two faculty members appointed by the president of the Faculty Senate;
    3. One representative appointed by the President of the Operating Staff Council;
    4. One representative appointed by the President of the Supportive Professional Staff Council;
    5. One student appointed by the President of the Residence Hall Association;
    6. One student appointed by the President of the Student Government Association representing the Student Government Association;
    7. One student appointed by the President of the Student Government Association representing the fraternity and sorority community;
    8. One student appointed by the Director of Off-Campus & Non-Traditional Student Services representing off-campus & non-traditional students;
    9. One representative from the NIU Department of Police & Public Safety;
    10. One representative from Housing & Dining;
    11. One representative from the Division of University Legal Services;
    12. One representative from Diversity & Equity;
    13. One representative from Intercollegiate Athletics.
    14. Ombudsperson
  2. Term of Appointment to Student Conduct Advisory Board and Voting Privileges

    1.  The term of appointment for the Director and Associate Director of Student Conduct shall be for the term of employment at Northern Illinois University.

    2.  The term of appointment for the faculty members shall be three (3) years and may be renewed.

    3.  The term of appointment for the students shall be one (1) year and may be renewed.

    4.  The term of appointment for staff members from the Department of Police & Public Safety, Housing & Dining, University Legal Services, Educational Services and Programs, and Intercollegiate Athletics shall be at the discretion of administrators of those respective areas.

    5.  All members of Student Conduct may participate in the Advisory Board meeting.

    6.  The term of appointment for appointees of the Operating Staff Council shall be for three (3) years.

    7.  The term of appointment for appointees of the Supportive Professional Staff Council shall be for three (3) years.
  3. Attendance at Advisory Board Meetings
    All members of the Student Conduct Advisory Board are expected to attend all scheduled meetings.
  4. Chair of the Student Conduct Advisory Board
    The Director of Student Conduct shall chair the Student Conduct Advisory Board.
  5. Role of the Student Conduct Advisory Board
    The role of the Student Conduct Advisory Board shall be to assist with review and recommendations for changes to the Student Code of Conduct.
  6. Any Question of Interpretation or Application of the Student Code of Conduct
    Any questions of interpretation or application of the Student Code of Conduct shall be referred to the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management for determination.
  7. The Student Code of Conduct May be Reviewed Annually
    The Student Code of Conduct may be reviewed annually under the direction of the Student Conduct Advisory Board.

Student Conduct Advisory Board

The SCAB meets approximately monthly per members' availability.
