Our online medical laboratory sciences (MLS) certificates are designed for the clinical affiliate medical laboratory professional who did not major in MLS, but who is pursuing external certification as a technologist in a specific discipline. Two certificates are available: clinical core lab and clinical microbiology lab.

How to Apply
You can apply if you:
- Have a bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry or related area, with a combination of 30 semester hours (45 quarter hours) in biology and chemistry
- Work in a clinical lab setting
You’ll apply to NIU as a post-baccalaureate student. Then, you’ll apply to the certificate program. Please contact Ellen Olsen at eolsen1@niu.edu to request the certificate application.
