Become An Outreach Trainer

The OSHA Outreach Trainer Authorization Program authorizes those who complete the training program to teach 10-Hour and 30-Hour Hazard Awareness Courses for General Industry, Construction or Maritime.

Construction Industry

In order to enroll in OSHA #500: Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Construction Industry, participants must meet prerequisite requirements to be eligible.

Prerequisites for OSHA #500: 

  • Successful completion of OSHA #510 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for the Construction Industry within the last 7 years.
  • Five years of occupational safety and health experience in the construction industry, or three years of the same experience and one of the following:
    • College degree in Occupational Safety and Health.
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
    • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).

Pre-requisites must be completed BEFORE registering for OSHA #500. No exceptions. Please complete the pre-requisite form for verification.

Trainers will need to complete OSHA #502 every four years to maintain their Outreach Trainer Status.

 

General Industry

In order to enroll in OSHA #501: Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry, participants must meet prerequisite requirements to be eligible.

Prerequisites for OSHA #501: 

  • Successful completion of OSHA #511 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry within the last 7 years.
  • Five years of occupational safety and health experience in general industry, or three years of the same experience and one of the following:
    • College degree in Occupational Safety and Health.
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
    • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).

Pre-requisites must be completed BEFORE registering for OSHA #501. No exceptions. Please complete the pre-requisite form for verification.

Trainers will need to complete OSHA #503 every four years to maintain their Outreach Trainer Status.

 

Maritime Industry

In order to enroll in OSHA #5400: Trainer Course in Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Maritime Industry, participants must meet prerequisite requirements to be eligible.

Prerequisites for OSHA #5400: 

  • Successful completion of OSHA #5410 Occupational Safety and Health Standards for Maritime Industry within the last 7 years.
  • Have five years of occupational safety and health experience in the maritime industry, or three years of the same experience and one of the following:
    • College degree in Occupational Safety and Health.
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
    • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH).
    • Certified Marine Chemist (CMC).

Pre-requisites must be completed BEFORE registering for OSHA #5400. No exceptions. Please complete the pre-requisite form for verification.

Trainers will need to complete OSHA #5402 every four years to maintain their Outreach Trainer Status.
