This timeline may be pushed back and adjusted nationally due to COVID-19.
The census will take place in 2020. Beginning in mid-March, if you do not reside in the residence halls, you will receive a notice in the mail to complete the 2020 Census. Once you receive it, you can respond online or by phone. In May, the U.S. Census Bureau will begin following up in person with households that haven't responded to the census.
Census Timeline
March 12–20: A letter invitation will arrive in the mail with instructions to respond online to the 2020 Census.
March 16–24: A reminder postcard sent regardless if you responded yet or not.
March 26–April 3: A reminder postcard, again.
April 8–16: A reminder letter and paper questionnaire to mail back.
April 20–27: A final reminder postcard before a follow-up in person (knock on the door).
