World Languages Learning Center

At the World Languages Learning Center (WLLC), you can practice speaking in paired recordings, check out videos for classroom learning, and receive free tutoring in some of our languages. We also offer software to enhance your foreign language learning experience, including Sanako for oral recordings and Trados for translation.

We have a wide range of DVDs and other media in more than a dozen languages available for checkout.

Location and Hours

Visit us in Watson Hall, room 101 (basement). Enter on the second floor between Watson and DuSable halls.

To avoid stairs, take the elevator on the second level of DuSable to the first (ground) floor. Go down the hall and through the swinging doors next to room 154. Ring the doorbell for entry.

  • Monday: 11 a.m.- 3 p.m.
  • Tuesday: 9 a.m.- 6 p.m.
  • Wednesday: 11 a.m.- 6 p.m.
  • Thursday: 9 a.m.- 8 p.m.

Closed on university holidays. Limited hours during finals week.

Reserve a Learning Center Area

Log in to access the reservations database. You must first register for access by contacting Friedemann Stuebing at fstuebing@niu.edu. Students are unable to register.
