Bárbara González, Ph.D.
Associate Dean for Academic Administration, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

Bárbara González was the founding chair of the NIU Department of Statistics and Actuarial Science. Her current research focus is on Bayesian statistics. She has also published research in stochastic processes, random variable generation, visualization techniques and mathematics education and leadership.

Before arriving at NIU, Bárbara was a faculty member at Hofstra University, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and Roosevelt University, where she was the chair of the Department of Mathematics and Actuarial Science.

Bárbara's Ph.D. and M.S. in statistics are from Cornell University, where she worked under the guidance of Professor Gennady Samorodnitsky. Her bachelor’s degree (summa cum laude) in mathematics is from the Universidad Simón Bolívar in Caracas, Venezuela.
