Summer Bridge Program

The CHANCE Summer Bridge Program is a free weeklong residential experience on the NIU DeKalb campus held before the fall semester begins. If you are an incoming CHANCE Scholar, this is your chance to get a head start on college life, build relationships with other students and arrive on campus in the fall already feeling at home.

What to Expect

During the week you will live on campus, attend workshops on study skills, financial aid literacy and campus resources, and connect with other incoming CHANCE Scholars. The program is designed to ease the transition to college and give you a real feel for life at NIU before classes begin.

CHANCE Tuition Waiver

Some students who complete the Summer Bridge Program and enroll in UNIV 101 may be considered for a CHANCE Tuition Waiver for the 2026-27 academic year. Waiver availability is limited.
