Nestor Osorio

Professor and Subject Specialist, Computer Science, Engineering and Mathematical Sciences

Nestor Osorio's scholarship focuses on library and information science, with an emphasis on information services and user support in STEM disciplines. His current research examines misinformation and disinformation generated by artificial intelligence and investigates how AI is being used and perceived in laboratory and classroom settings by engineering faculty and students.

Research Profile

Osorio is the editor of the NIU Libraries’ Artificial Intelligence in Library Services initiative and the founder of the Libraries’ AI Group, established in 2023 to advance professional learning around AI. He also leads professional development efforts as chair of the Conference and Professional Development Committees of the Illinois Association of College and Research Libraries (IACRL). Through these roles, he is helping shape how academic libraries respond to the opportunities and challenges of AI in teaching, research and information literacy.
