Melissa Adams-Campbell is co-founder of NIU’s BookLab, an experiential learning space where students design and create projects centered on textual studies, book arts, and emerging technologies. Her work explores the intersection of humanities scholarship and digital innovation, with particular attention to AI and writing technologies in academic contexts. She integrates hands-on, project-based learning with traditional humanities approaches to help students critically engage with evolving tools and platforms. In her honors seminar, Monsters and Makers, students experiment with writing and design technologies while examining the ethical and creative implications of innovation through texts such as Frankenstein. Her research and mentoring emphasize thoughtful, critical engagement with AI and digital tools in humanities education.
